English Language Tuition 

I will aim to boost your skills set to ensure complete confidence when tackling these examinations. Together we will work on your strengths and weaknesses and give you the ability to answer each question efficiently, accurately and show off your knowledge and true ability. 
All of these skills will be taught in a friendly, fun and lively environment where hopefully your writing genius will be revealed. 

 English Language Paper 1 & Paper 2 Skills 

Paper 1 & Paper 2 English Language, regardless of the board being set all expect students to exhibit certain skills. Whether the paper is based on fiction or non-fiction they will still expect students to be able to identify explicit and implicit information. Furthermore, exam boards will also be looking for students to be able to analyse, evaluate and compare texts. 
For GCSE English Language students should: 
Read fluently, and with good understanding, a wide range of texts from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, including literature and literary non-fiction as well as other writing such as reviews and journalism 
Read and evaluate texts critically and make comparisons between texts 
Summarise and synthesise information or ideas from texts 
Use knowledge gained from wide reading to inform and improve their own writing 
Write effectively and coherently using Standard English appropriately 
Use grammar correctly and punctuate and spell accurately 
Acquire and apply a wide vocabulary, alongside a knowledge and understanding of grammatical terminology, and linguistic conventions for reading, writing and spoken language 
Listen to and understand spoken language and use spoken Standard English effectively. 

 Section B of the English Language Papers. 

All exam boards cover Creative and Transactional Writing for Section B of the examinations. Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar are all explicitly marked in this part of the examination. You will also have to write for a particular audience with a very specific purpose.  
You will need to think about using language techniques such as: triplets, hyperbole, rhetorical questions, direct address, sensory language, similes, metaphors, semantic fields … and the list goes on.
